Tomorrow starts my grueling week of Christmas setup in the retail store...
It's not going to be the same. This is the first year in 16 years that my dear friend and creative co-heart will not be here, side by side, hour by hour...till the dying end. I've documented our set ups over the years to entertain and surprise you.
Linda was diagnosed several months ago with breast cancer. She is undergoing her treatments with the same strength and gutsy approach she has always given to me. She is in my prayers daily and I am praying for myself that I can get through this seasonal frenzy without her.
No need to prepare the guest suite... |

Linda leaving after a long week of Holiday merri-making! |
Yesterday, a darling friend and Black-eyed Susan client came in early in the day. I was working away with my staff, unpacking, sorting, prepping, fluffing, all the things Linda ususally does with me. Donna noted my less than enthused approach and commented on the monumental work ahead. I told her about Linda's absence and my sadness!
Before I knew it, she had shed her sweater and was digging in unpacking, sorting and exclaiming! To my delight, and ignoring every urging for her to go home to her husband (rare day off!), she told me she was working in Linda's honor! Tears welled up at the very thought. Donna's thoughtfulness and willingness to step in to honor my dear friend and help me in her absence was a true gift of service, hope and love. I won't soon forget this gift of love. Thank you, Donna.
Donna digging in! I love that girl. Beautiful motive. |
My gift, Donna's support and friendship. |
Linda and I on her last visit Thank you my thoughtful, selflless friend, Donna. Get well my dear friend, Linda. I know I can do it. |
