Newest Introductions!

Those of you who know my routine, know that Wednesday night is when the magic happens.

Last Wednesday night was a long night of transformation. *sigh*

The first of my fall offerings found their way out of the stockroom and almost every major surface was re-merchandised due to 5 large new pieces of art that were hung. Quite a team effort. Sneelock, myself, Anne and Shannon. Anne fueled our energy at the beginning of the effort with her delicious seviche, guacamole and chips. Fabulous, I might say.

Then, we set out to flip the store and give new life to the 8000 square feet of showroom. I have a great team. Creative. Fun. Talented. Hardworking. Visionary....a pretty good formula. Let's just say, it makes the "night shift" possible and sometimes even enjoyable.

A peek into my new front window...yes, it's all about style!

This season it's all about "fresh cuts" in permanent botanicals. It looks as if we have gone out into the yard and pruned our favorite maple or birch. I love it.

We sorted through the new fall offerings and of course, I had several motifs of crow-related objects! I may have cut down on whimsical Halloween, but I've always got to have a few crows and a little bit of glitter (see the framed crow print in black glitter frame!)

The color peacock cannot be denied in this season's color pallet. It's importance is being seen in art,
accessories and fabric alike. Several months ago, I painted this vintage console in a Sherwin Williams color to herald the trend. I've gotten lots of great comments and put it to good use! Love it.

If you are looking for great aspen leaves, here you are. Shannon designed this dramatic and breathtaking focal point using our fall leaves, the aspen and various berries. The table is supported all around with stems for the taking. Beautiful. Fresh. Oh so Fall.

I'm so excited to announce our new idea for your front door! Black-eyed Susan has been so well known for years for our signature grande wreaths. This year, I've introduced an idea that you can easily design yourself (or with a little help from me and my staff)!  This door basket will easily take you from season to season with the simple change of a new selection of your favorite picks. Holiday, spring and summer will be just as stunning as this fall selection.

One more feature of a realisticc Fall branch cutting. I love this!

So there you have it. Your own preview of the real magic that happens on Wednesday night when the merchandising crew comes in. Looks like Thursdays could be the day to find the newest looks.

Fall, Can it Be?!

This is what greeted me as I rang the bell for my first appointment of the day! What a lovely sight. Last season's offerings from Black-eyed Susan's Fall Wreath Collection! I can recall this one being designed and love the mix of fresh colored fall hydrangeas, complete with kumquats and orange boughs. In 90 degree heat, as I stood at the front door (obviously, not even trying to resist the photo shoot!), it felt like real fall couldn't be far behind. And, am I ever ready.

I had to get another shot with the palladium window and full view of this beauty. Good work, Joanne! I love it when I pull the selection and Joanne does her magic. Voila! Fall Beauty.

Returning back to the studio and retail store, I was greeted by this happy sight! Bright orange and yellow hops, forming a wreath with perfect color and motion. I just love flowers that have movement. This one comes in two sizes and two colors. Yes. Definitely fall must be coming.

Acorns just steal my heart! I have bags of them that I have collected from Fall walks over the years. But, just in case you don't....you can pick up a bag from the store in gold or olive. Pretty darn cute! These lovely harvest colored apples are called Asian Pears! Whatever...I love them.

Everyone knows that I can't resist a fabulous hydrangea. Look at these marigold and taupe colors. Ahhhhh.

You'll find wonderful bundles of hydrangea, pods, and monstera leaves softening the tabletop visuals. Definitely, Fall.
I'm always ready for the change of seasons. We get a slight jump on things. What can I say, one of the blessings of retail. It's all for the taking.

p.s. I put the glitter spider webs and spiders out last night...

There's a Change in The Air!

It's always a happy time of year when the fall/Halloween merchandise is ready for merchandising!
Sorry about the slightly out of focus snapshot! But what about this "Treats" pumpkin for your trick or treat give-a-ways! (And check out those glitter witches and spooks.)
You'll find mahogany colored pumpkins in three sizes...

Vintage reproduction figures....

These battery operated black glitter candelabras set the stage for a real Adams Family dinner party!

A slightly new take on past years Caspers with personal greetings...

I saved the best for last! You know how I love crows (of the statue variety!). Add that seasonal black glitter and some orange tinsel and you've got my heart. This little guy is named appropriately, "Edgar Allen Crow". Check our twitter contest to see more.
Yes, fall is in the air. None too soon for me. It's pretty magical inside the old stone walls of Black-eyed Susan. Come see for yourself.

The Preview

Check out a few of the great new selections I put out last Thursday night! And, there's more to come.

I'm always ready for the fall merchandise to hit the floor and herald the influx of customers back from their shore homes. Here's just a few of my favorite picks for this season. Welcome back, Fall!
Here I am removing the leaves from the
dogwood branches Sneelock and I cut from the woods the night prior...
I didn't realize that fall dogwood branches had these seasonal orange berries. Perfect!
Probably my favorite pick so far...clip on metallic crows wearing party hats!
These "BOO" letter blocks made the cut again this year. Use them on mantles, window sills,or deep moldings anywhere. They work great in bookcases or unexpectedly up high on armoires or kitchen cabinets.

The sparkley crows are back again as well; the large and the small. These went as soon as I put them out last year and are already proving to do the same this year.

Fall maple leaves are made even more interesting when you add these pods. They have great movement and interest. A french bucket or basket filled with them is a salute to the season. Realistic beauties, to be sure!

I'm expecting several more shipments this week with additional Halloween figures and treasures. I'll keep you posted.
