Personally, I advocate resolutions.
The promise of a new year makes all things possible. Objective inventory of one's attitudes, abilities, unused talents, desires for improvement and even forgiveness leads to personal growth.
This year, I am going to take more time for myself, time for regular exercise, time to serve others, time to write thank you notes, time to express and note gratitude. Time to praise other's accomplishments and seek for good in all things and all places. As my darling Mother ages, I want to take more time to learn from her, and honor her. And, as much as my dear husband, Fred, serves and helps me----I want to emulate him and serve him.
Noting these goals will help me keep tabs on my progress and make them measurable.
What are your resolutions? I'd love to hear them.
Here's to a great new year of style and personal growth. Welcome, 2009. Come right in.

I am pro-resolutions. Sure, I make a lot of resolutions that I don't quite carry through on, but I figure if I never made them at all, I'd have about a zero chance of effecting change.
My main one this year is to make time to take better care of myself. It's feeling like a real challenge!
I'm following in Michelle's, Jill's, and Charlotte's footsteps and choosing a word for the year. I'll post about it soon. It's a way of making resolutions in principle--in a Big Picture sort of way. I like the notion.
P.S.: Love your new banner!
Your banner is fabulous! You and Michelle really know your stuff!--
I've been thinking of some of the goals I have for myself for the new year and I love what you said about taking time to praise other's accomplishments and seek for good in all things and all places. I'm on board with you on that. Great post!

Holy echo! sorry about the post repeat...not sure what happened there. Just wanted to let you know that I used some of your resolution ideas for my blog post. You summed up my thoughts! I also used a similar ending but instead of "come on in" I wrote "I've been expecting you". Thanks for the ideas...I used Michelle's "one little word" idea..Am I unoriginal, or what?
In 2009 I want to slow down and enjoy life. I want to smile and laugh more. I love to laugh!
Hi Susan,
I peek at your blog every once in a while and enjoy it. I'm glad our paths crossed long ago. I was thinking a couple of weeks ago when your folks spoke in Sacrament Meeting - "I've known these fine folks for 45 years!" That's longer than I've known almost anyone! My privilege.
Can I just ditto your resolutions? I really like how you phrased them.
Happy New Year to you!
Paula
I definitely advocate resolutions! I don't do as well with a list of goals, but centering my development around a word definitely helps me channel my desires to change and improve. Those are great 2009 goals--bring it on!
I love your new banner!
I have a love/hate relationship with resolutions but do enjoy feeling like anything is possible and that it's just a matter of choosing the things I want to focus on for the year. I just wish I could maintain the momentum of my good intentions.
